Memory Writeup 1

Memory #1: [Sig Neu] Past: Cornell's intervention; shuttle. "I am going to protect Lambda!"

Hourglass, usable 3x [used 2 times (Nagisa)] (unlimited thanks to questing.)

SCENE: Lambda, in his humanoid body, is smashing screens. He's surrounded by dead/unconscious humans. Cornell comes in, looking haggard, saying, "You must have been scared, you poor thing." Lambda is visibly afraid of him; his body language is full-on panic. "But don't worry. I'll protect you no matter what happens. Please trust me. Please give me just one more chance. Please." Lambda, still afraid, keeps backing up. Just as it looks like he might be accepting what Cornell is saying, Emeraude comes in with two attackbots, and Lambda's fear is back. Lambda is terrified of Emeraude.

"Look at what that thing has done here," she says. "And yet you still defend it." She dismisses that and says that it's no matter; if he doesn't kill Lambda, she will.

Cornell steps in front of Lambda and says no, no she's not. "I'll do whatever it takes! I am going to protect Lambda!" He then turns to Lambda and says, "Don't worry, Lambda. Trust me." Lambda smiles, bright and happy and genuine. He's going to be safe. He trusts Cornell.

…And then one of the attackbots shoots Cornell in the shoulder.

Cornell tells Lambda to run for the shuttle, so they both make a break for it. The memory ends with Cornell getting shot twice by the attackbots as Lambda looks on with horror and the door to the shuttle closes.

WHAT HE GETS: Lambda is a lot more intelligent and observant than his childlike demeanor would make clear. He's actually pretty conscious of the nuances of the conversation going on around him. So what he gets from this memory is: he was afraid of Cornell for some reason, even though he wasn't in the last memory, but Cornell tried to protect him. All dere has returned in full force. He is terrified of Emeraude throughout the entire memory, though he doesn't know why— honestly, this memory gives enough reason, given that Emeraude's attempting to kill him and Cornell. And there's a dull resignation at the reveal of the attackbots.

Most notably, there is no reaction to the dead or unconscious humans around him. He doesn't really feel anything about that— neither guilt nor joy. He doesn't know why they're dead or unconscious. He also doesn't know if Cornell survived that shot.
